01 / Our story

From the Vihorlat plant to our own production

The roots of BUREX go back to 1993. After the Vihorlat Snina machine-building plant broke up, a group of experienced designers and foremen refused to give up their craft. They decided to keep the tradition of Slovak crane building alive.

The journey began in a modest office in Snina and rented workshops in Humenné. Steady results earned us our own facility in Michalovce, where we are based and manufacture to this day.

The core of the team are people who went through the Vihorlat Snina school. Today they pass their experience — from drawing to installation — on to the younger generation on the shop floor.

Thirty years ago we started from nothing — steel, a welder and a word that is kept. Today we are a million-euro company. And the same holds true as on day one: a family stands behind every crane, under its own name.

We design and build overhead, gantry and jib cranes precisely to the layout of your hall and your process flow.

We manufacture frames, beams and industrial halls. Welded structures are delivered in compliance with EN 1090.

We build foundations, reinforced concrete structures and monolithic pours for industrial halls. Reference: the hall in Somotor.

Service, inspections and partnerships

We look after your equipment throughout its service life — from components to inspection reports.

    SWF Krantechnik components

    We are an official partner of the German manufacturer. We integrate their wire rope and chain hoists into our cranes, which guarantees CE-certified reliability and parts availability.

    Vihorlat spare parts

    As one of the few, we permanently keep key spare parts for older Vihorlat Snina cranes in stock. We help keep them in safe operation.

    Legislation and inspections

    We provide warranty and post-warranty service, regular inspections, official examinations and inspection reports under Regulation 508/2009 Z. z.

Plans for the future

We invest in technological development in three directions:

Pillar 01

New production halls

We are preparing to move capacity into new premises that will allow handling larger loads in a safe environment.

Pillar 02

Calculation automation

We are moving structural calculations and material usage optimization into automated tools — faster designs and less waste in production.

Pillar 03

Energy self-sufficiency

We plan a gradual transition of the production facility to renewable energy, with solar systems directly on the halls.
