| Parameter | Double-Girder Specification Range |
|---|---|
| 01 Capacity range | From 10 t up to 80 tonnes (custom engineered heavy duty up to 100+ t) |
| 02 Bridge span | Up to 35+ m (welded box-girder steel structures from S235 / S355 steel) |
| 03 Lifting height | Maximum hook elevation — hoisting crab travels on top of the two bridge girders |
| 04 Hoisting technology | SWF Krantechnik NOVA¹ wire rope hoists (up to 80 t) and CRABster crabs (up to 250 t) |
| 05 Service walkways | Optional full-length maintenance walkway with handrails across the bridge for safe service access |
| 06 Control system | Ergonomic radio remote controls (AUTEC / HBC) with joysticks/pushbuttons or cabin control chair |
| 07 Drive inverters | Stepless frequency inverters on all axes (hoist, cross travel, long travel) + anti-collision systems |
| 08 Standards & quality | EN 1090-2 (EXC-3), EN 13001, welding to EN ISO 3834-2, full CE conformity testing |
02 / Design Advantages
When a Double-Girder Crane Is the Essential Choice
Unmatched lifting power, maximized hook clearance and high endurance in continuous operation.
- 01
Heavy load capacities & long bridge spans
Dual welded box-girder construction delivers maximum torsional rigidity and structural integrity, safely handling extreme loads from 10 to 80 tonnes over spans exceeding 30 meters.
- 02
Maximum usable hook height
Because the hoisting crab travels on top of the girder rails, the hook reaches up between the girders, maximizing hook approach compared to single-girder cranes.
- 03
Full-length maintenance platforms
Walkways with kickplates and handrails can be integrated directly onto the bridge, allowing safe routine servicing of drives, crab and electrical panels without specialized access lifts.
- 04
Built for continuous heavy-duty duty cycles
Engineered specifically for steelworks, foundries, precast concrete plants, paper mills and heavy machining operations running continuous multi-shift production (FEM/ISO 3M to 5M).
03 / Budget & Calculation
Turnkey Quotation Breakdown for Heavy Cranes
Budget for heavy-duty cranes is determined by capacity, span, duty cycles (FEM/ISO) and automation/safety equipment.
Key elements of our turnkey delivery:
- Welded Box Girders: Fabricated to EXC-3 per EN 1090-2 with ultrasonic NDT weld inspection and certified protective coatings.
- Hoisting Crab & Winch: SWF NOVA¹ or CRABster with heavy-duty gearboxes and dual reeving.
- Electricals & Frequency Inverters: Inverter control on all motions, AUTEC radio remotes with live telemetry, laser anti-collision sensors.
- Full-Length Service Platforms: Certified walkways with kickplates and safety handrails.
- Heavy Crane Runway, Erection & Certification: Runway beams, DIN 536 rails, mobile crane erection and statutory proof load testing.
💡 Direct Manufacturer Advantage: In-house steel fabrication and SWF Krantechnik partnership provide direct factory pricing without middlemen.

05 / FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary difference between single and double girder cranes?
A double-girder crane features two box girders with a top-running crab. It achieves higher capacities (up to 80 t), wider spans, greater hook heights and accommodates full service walkways.
Can you equip a double-girder crane with dual hoists or auxiliary lifting?
Yes. We frequently build double-girder crabs featuring a heavy primary hoist (e.g. 32 t) and a fast auxiliary hoist (e.g. 5 t), as well as tandem operation for long materials.
How are box girders manufactured and quality controlled?
Box girders are calculated using 3D FEM structural software per EN 13001 and Eurocode 3. Fabrication is executed to EXC-3 per EN 1090-2 with IWE welding supervision and ultrasonic NDT testing.
Do you supply heavy crane runways and proof load testing?
Yes. We provide complete heavy runway systems (HEB/HEM beams, DIN 536 crane rails, Gantrex elastomeric clips), mobile crane installation, proof load testing and statutory certification.
